Testimonials

“Stephen and Rich were amazing hosts! They were extremely nice and attentive during our stay, ensuring that we had everything we needed and also providing us with information about New Orleans (this was our first time there) and not hesitating to answer any of our questions. Their guest house is very beautifully decorated, clean and comfortable and overlooks a very pretty courtyard that separates it from the main house. There is a private entrance to the guest house, and though Rich and Stephen were extremely helpful and friendly, they also respect your privacy. Also, it’s within easy walking distance to the french quarter in a nice quiet neighborhood. I would definitely stay here again!”  (Comments from JR, November, 2010)

“Stephen and Rich are amazing hosts who have thought of everything. Private guesthouse with lush courtyard shared with main house. Downstairs has a kitchen area — small refrigerator, microwave, sink, coffeemaker and all the dishes you need. Light breakfast items provided. Also a seating area with a pull-out couch. Upstairs a spacious bedroom, comfy bed and bathroom. Lots of privacy, but the hosts are happy to share their knowledge of the area. Lots of nearby restaurants and clubs, especially on Frenchman Street. 1 block away, Shiro’s had the best red beans and rice I’ve ever eaten, good Indian food and burgers, and friendly staff. Mimi’s is a good neighborhood bar. Thank you Rich and Stephen for a comfortable and welcoming place to stay in our favorite city.”  (Comments from NOLAgal, June, 2011)

“A cozy, clean and private accommodation. The owners, Rich and Stephen, are great hosts…very helpful and friendly. The historic guest house is tastefully furnished and equipped with everything we needed for our stay in New Orleans. The patio is lush and full of tropical plants. The guest house is conveniently located …a few blocks from the French Quarter, in a safe neighbourhood and easily accessible to transportation and restaurants. I will recommend this guest house to friends and family and I intend to stay there during my next visit to New Orleans!”  (Comments from Leslie, June, 2011)

“I have had to work in New Orleans a lot this past year and I always stay here. It is off the beaten path of the French Quarter but you can still walk there if you want. It is in the Marigny which is filed with locals and has a nice genuine funky non-touristy vibe that I like. Also, Frenchman Street, famous for its music, is a very short walk away and there is a nice brunch place (Elizabeth’s Restaurant) within a mile.   One great thing I like is that they do NOT have a dining room where common meals are shared. They have one unit in the back (converted slave quarters) . Also downstairs is a kitchenette with a sink, microwave, refrigerator and dining table, The owners provide breakfast cereal, granola bars, milk, juice, coffee, tea and fruit that you can enjoy in the comfort of your own space. That is such a relief after I have been traveling or working all day.   I could not be pleased more with this place. The owners are very responsive but totally unobtrusive. It’s off the street so it is pretty quiet.”  (Comments from RichardZ, February, 2011)

“The rental is the former slave quarters to the main house which rests on the opposite side of the lush courtyard (a perfect location for morning coffee, after-dinner drink or to check emails on laptop via provided wifi). The downstairs is the living room and kitchen; upstairs an open bedroom and connecting bathroom. The space itself is very comfortable, with lots of natural lights; beautiful tall doors and windows run the length of each floor. The balcony from the bedroom affords a lovely view of the courtyard below, as well as yet another spot to have a private, perfect moment.   The owners, Stephen and Rich, provide house-keeping everyday, which is a nice touch for a vacation rental. The pantry and refrigerated items provided were a generous offering, as well. Plenty of books, maps and other printed material were on-hand for just about anything of interest. Stephen and Rich were very respectful of our privacy and could not have been more considerate and accommodating to our needs. The rental is a perfect home-base for anyone interested in spending time in the Marigny neighborhood or seeking a quieter locale close to the Quarter.”  (Comments from JohnH, October, 2011)

“It was perfect. Separate from the main house with its own entrance, front outdoor patio and French windows. The guest house is a part of history and makes you feel at home. It has 2 floors. The bottom floor being the kitchenette and living room opening into the paved patio. The upstair is an artist loft with a beautiful bedroom and bathroom. The bedroom has French doors leading to a balcony facing the charming yard. The owners Steven and Rich are very friendly and always willing to give you the best tips for restaurants, bars, attractions, etc. The house is located in the Marigny, a 10 minutes walk from the French Quarter. We had the best of times!”  (Comments from Virginie, May, 2011)

“After staying here for two weeks, my wife and I will never stay anywhere else in New Orleans. It’s not a hotel room, it’s your own private house. It has a private entrance, living room with small kitchenette and a spacious bedroom upstairs with a firm mattress on the bed and a nice clean bathroom. It’s about a 10 min. walk to some of the best clubs and restaurants on Frenchmen St., and one block away from an amazing breakfast spot(Cake bakery cafe). It’s also very quiet. The owners, Stephen and Rich, are extremely friendly and helpful and made us feel at home. After walking all over the city we decided our favorite neighborhood was the Marigny. I can’t recommend this place highly enough.  (Comments by Scott, October, 2011)

“While staying in Gulf Shores, AL we decided to head over to New Orleans for a night and stayed at the Pierre Coulon Guest House. The location was great, the guest house was very clean, beautiful, and was filled with more amenities than I would ever need. Stephen was extremely helpful with navigating New Orleans, finding great places to eat, and making us feel welcome. Easily one of the best experiences I have had at a bed and breakfast! Thanks again!”  (Comments by Chad, January, 2012)

“We loved our stay at the Pierre Coulon guesthouse over Mardi Gras 2012. Looking for a place where we could all stay together, this guesthouse provided an excellent value and more of a unique experience than a normal hotel. The rooms are cute, very clean, and the kitchen/living room were thoughtfully stocked. Daily housekeeping (clean towels, trash emptied etc.) was a really nice touch and a reminder that this is more than just a house rental. Breakfast/snacks provided were light (coffee/milk/cereal – the coffee was much appreciated!!) but that’s exactly what we wanted, because other breakfast places in the area are amazing… the surrounding neighborhood is adorable and the walk even to the french quarter is pretty short, and we also appreciated the chance to stretch our legs a bit. Frenchman street is even closer. Overall a wonderful location and house to stay in.   Having a leisurely cup of coffee on the beautiful patio, before going out to the parades, was one of my favorite memories of our trip! What a pretty, picturesque place to stay.   The hosts were also very accommodating and a perfect balance of being available whenever we needed something, but not infringing on our privacy at all…the private entrance to the house helps with that… and they were so, so nice, from our email correspondence, booking the house, providing lots of tips/literature for the area, etc.  I would definitely stay here again if we’re back in New Orleans. We were a group of friends in our late 20′s but I’m imagining returning with my family and enjoying the guesthouse experience again. Wonderful! Thanks Rich and Stephen!!”  (Comments by Kate, February, 2012)

“We’ve stayed at lots of places in the Marigny district, but the Pierre Coulon Guest House tops ‘em all. It’s a separate house in a courtyard behind the main house, 2 bedrooms and a bath above a kitchenette and living room. The kitchenette is stocked with cereals, fruits, coffee, half-&-half and the refrigerator even came stocked with a half-gallon of cranberry juice! But, if cereal isn’t your thing you are one block from the Cake Cafe, which has great breakfasts.  Our hosts, Steven and Rich, were great: genial, informative regarding the city and surrounding neighborhoods, in particular concerning dining opportunities off the well-beaten tourist path.  We’ll be back!”  (Comments from Drake, May, 2012)

“Owners are friendly and super-helpful. We’ve always received the right blend of privacy and friendliness. Love the location and the comfort of the guesthouse – we’re returning next year!” (Comments from Tim, April,  2012)

“Stephen and Rich are wonderful hosts. Their guest house is spotless and beautiful. The area is safe, quiet and in walking distance to the French Quarter. My boyfriend and I loved our stay. Stephen and Rich were so helpful and made our stay in New Orleans better than we had hoped. I would highly recommend their beautiful quest house.”  (Comments from Kimberlee, May 2012)

“The location is convenient to everything yet quiet and private. The hosts Steve and Rich are just wonderful – considerate and friendly. I want to give this lovely place the high marks it deserves. But selfishly, I’d like to keep it secret so we’ll never have to go elsewhere when in New Orleans.”  (Comments from Eileen from Fairfax, Va., May, 2013)

“We were thrilled with this place! Lots of space, all the needed amenities plus a great breakfast/snack selection….  Location is quiet and safe, and close to the French Quarter. Definitely captures the charm of the city – probably the most charming place I’ve ever stayed. Rates were more than reasonable…it’s a fantastic value.” ( Comments from Timothy, April, 2013)

“It’s just what everybody says–charming setting, spacious, friendly hosts, well stocked. You have the advantage of a quiet neighborhood, the Fauborg Marigny, just a five-minute walk away from the French Quarter. And there are wonderful cafes just a block away.” (Comments from Lynette, September, 2013)
